It’s Been a While

Hey there, It’s been a while since our last update, and it’s safe to say the studio hasn’t stood still. The past few months have been packed with exciting projects, new challenges, and plenty of creative thinking, all while trying to stay cool through one of the hottest spells of the year.

We’ve had the chance to work with some fantastic clients across a variety of sectors, keeping us busy with everything from publications and branding to design projects we’re looking forward to sharing soon. There are a few exciting pieces of work still under wraps for now, but we can’t wait to show you what we’ve been creating once they’re ready to be unveiled. In the meantime, we’re delighted to finally share a selection of the reports we’ve been working on behind the scenes.

Worcestershire LEP – Economy Report

Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership’ core mission is to drive sustainable economic growth, and create new opportunities across the county. Working closely with local businesses and organisations, the LEP helps support Worcestershire’s economy while measuring its progress against previous years and other counties.

We recently designed their Economy Report, bringing together multiple years’ worth of data and achievements into a publication that highlights where Worcestershire has excelled, as well as identifying opportunities for future growth.

A key challenge was – as with any report – a significant amount of complex data and information to communicate. Our focus was on presenting this in a way that was clear, easy to navigate and simple to understand without losing any of the important detail. To achieve this, we designed a range of bespoke infographics that transformed large volumes of information into engaging, digestible visuals, making the report more accessible and enjoyable to read.

United Nations – Blue Economy Report

The University of Portsmouth has been carrying out research into aquatic systems and their impact on biodiversity, tackling some of today’s biggest challenges including climate change, biodiversity loss, and the protection of human health and wellbeing. As part of an ongoing collaboration, we worked with the team to design their practical framework: ‘Transitioning to a Sustainable Blue Economy.’

The publication is a comprehensive guide, covering the framework itself, its objectives, supporting data, and a wealth of research. With such a large volume of detailed information, it was essential to present the content in a way that felt clear, engaging and easy to navigate. We broke up text-heavy sections with bold imagery, infographics and illustrations, helping readers digest complex information while keeping the document visually engaging from start to finish.

Positive News: Creativity for Everyone

Graphic designer Made by James has recently launched Super Duper, a mentoring programme created to help 100 aspiring creatives kick-start their careers. Designed to give newcomers a genuine leg-up, the four-month programme is open to anyone looking to build confidence, develop their skills and gain valuable insight into the creative industry, regardless of their level of design experience.

Best of all, the mentorship is completely free to take part in, thanks to sponsorship from Affinity, making it even more accessible for the next generation of designers.

Typeface Of The Month: BD Plakatbau

BD Plakatbau is a striking typeface by Lopetz for Buro Destruct. The harsh, grainy edges give the typography a DIY feel that make the text stand out wherever it is implemented.
